The Premiership is back

Today isn’t the all important day that British female swimmer Rebecca Adlington claimed a second gold at the Olympics in a world record time, or that Essex beat Kent by 5 wickets in the Friends Provident trophy at Lords, but the all important day has finally arrived when the new Premiership football season is back.

Even with the season only being a few hours old stories have already started with Hull making a dream start to life in the Premier league with a win, but both fellow newcomers Stoke and West Brom lose on the opening day.

Arsenal got off to a winning start along with Blackburn, Middlesborough and West Ham, but the late game on Saturday saw Liverpool travel to Sunderland that ended up with Liverpool winning 1-0 with a late Torres goal that was watched at the New Inn by Darren, Phil, Gary and Johnny.

Phil was full off his usual comments about the Liverpool performance but only time will tell if he still will be so forthcoming with comments about football when his mighty Villa host Manchester City at Villa park on Sunday?

  1. No worries on that score - an easy Villa victory just as I predicted
